United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime; Our World in Data. 2019-2023.
The UN Office on Drugs and Crime compiles intentional homicide statistics from criminal-justice and public-health sources. Our World in Data turns the comparable series into a map and chart. Homicide is more consistently defined than robbery or “crime” in general.

UNODC statistical products are generally reusable with attribution. We host a cropped Our World in Data map export (CC BY) of UNODC homicide rates. Open their map for the current layer.
The usual unit is intentional homicides per 100,000 people per year. High rates often cluster in specific cities or corridors, not uniformly across a country. Compare like years; recording changes.
Under-reporting, legal definitions, and missing years differ by state. Conflict deaths are a different series (see UCDP). A thumbnail is not a “most dangerous country” list.
