Fix Planet overview Political violence events
Where armed conflict and protest events were recorded, not a verdict on who is right.
Read the card →Annual conflict intensity by country and region from Heidelberg’s Conflict Barometer, intensity classes, not event pins and not battle-death totals.
The Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK) publishes the annual Conflict Barometer (Konfliktbarometer): a global inventory of political conflicts with intensity levels (from non-violent dispute through limited violence to war), regional chapters, static maps, and downloadable datasets. Latest PDF checked: Conflict Barometer 2025 (coba_2025.pdf). English and German hubs both resolve.
ACLED is high-frequency event geography; UCDP is death accounting; GPI/FSI are country indices; SIPRI is spending. HIIK answers how intense is this conflict this year on a coded scale?, the missing intensity layer. HIIK hubs and PDFs returned 200, so no UN Peacekeeping substitute was needed.
An intensity class is HIIK’s coding for that conflict-year, not a UN Security Council resolution and not ACLED’s pin count. One country can host several conflicts at different intensities. Open the current Conflict Barometer and the static maps and datasets pages. Preview = Fix Planet overview after HIIK, not their cover art.
Not this card: ACLED dashboard; UCDP GED; UN mission deployment maps (different question).
Attribute Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK). The preview is a Fix Planet overview, not a second ACLED dot field and not HIIK cover art.
